ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS

While welcoming the release of the HREOC report ìSame-Sex: Same Entitlements,î TransGender Victoria calls for action from now on.

“The 1990’s Senate enquiry found comprehensive evidence for Federal law reform re gender identity and sexual orientation for single people,” stated media spokesperson Sally Goldner.

“The Sexuality Discrimination Bill, (sometimes referred to as the ëSpindler Billí after Democrats Senator Sid Spindler) was introduced into the Senate nearly 12 years ago and is still on the table, not in the statute books”.

“The HREOC reportís comprehensive findings regarding discriminatory treatment of relationships other than male and female based on birth certificate complete the picture.”

“There is now a total package of evidence to ensure prompt and full action from politicians of all political leanings – and there are zero excuses for further delay. We also welcome the recent surveys such as Getup! showing huge and growing public support for reform in this area.”

“From now on, Federal MPs, candidates and parties will be viewed on GLBTI issues from a perspective that actions speak louder than words.”
