transflagTransgender Victoria acknowledges that our goals will only be met in tandem with greater awareness about trans and gender diverse (TGD) people and their lives.

The needs of TGD people will be better met when there is a greater support for both gender equality and a healthy respect for gender diversity within our communities.TGV provides education on TGD issues in a range of settings, including workplaces and service providers, across government, community and private sectors.

TGV also supports the work of service providers who are taking steps to ensure they are TGD aware through consultation and advice.

The objective of TGV’s training packages are to assist organisations work better with TGD people, understand the rights and needs of TGD people, and gain a richer understanding of diversity and the benefits diversity can bring to the community and workplaces.

Some of the topics Transgender Victoria’s education covers are:

· Practical measures that can make your organisation or service TGD friendly

· Legal issues, impacting legislation, government policy and rights for TGD people

· Different identities within the TGD community

· Supports available for TGD people and their allies

Mission

Transgender Victoria (TGV) was founded in the late 1990s to achieve justice, equity and quality health and community service provision for trans and gender diverse (TGD) people, their partners, families and friends.

TGV uses TGD to refer to people whose gender identity or expression is different from that which was assigned at birth or that which is expected of them by society.
